Abstract

One of my tasks as the former director of the Centre of African Studies (2014–2020) would be to welcome our new Masters students each year. In my short speech, and later in teaching our compulsory Introduction to African Studies course, I would try to convey why and how African Studies matters on multiple levels in the complicated contemporary world we all occupy from such different positions.
